Girlfriend works 40 hours a week, boss is forcing everyone to come in on a Sunday to "deep clean"

We need to do a deep clean but that means everyone has to come in for eight hours on a Sunday, so I've been procrastinating scheduling that. It's going to have to happen sometime in May though. We used to do this once a year and we haven't done it since pre-covid. Please let me know if there is a Sunday that you are absolutely not available, otherwise I'll assume you can work, most likely 9-5. Thank you

She already works an average of 10 hours a day, sometimes she'll get a day she only works 4 or 5 hours. But a lot of days at 7am to 6:30pm.

The boss is forcing everyone to come in on a Sunday to "deep clean" the place. She won't augment the work week to allow for the deep cleaning during the week.

My girlfriend basically said no, I'm not coming in on the weekend because it's my only time off and is expected to always be off since that's what the job description said.

Boss replied that she was putting it off for awhile but still wants everyone to come in on a Sunday regardless of what anyone says or suggests.

On top of that, the boss is going to pay in cash for the extra 8 hours on the weekend.

ResearchAndDisaster. 1 day ago I had a previous boss request this once. But she requested this the right way. It went something like, "Hey guys, I'm planning in doing a deep clean of the space this weekend. If anyone is interested in helping, it's overtime pay and I'll be here from 9-5! Thanks, have a great weekend." Only acceptable method. 10.8k Reply Share
